Mr Robert "Bob" William Wilson's Obituary
Robert (Bob) William Wilson, age 86, passed peacefully on March 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family.
Born in Washington, DC on August 8, 1939, to Frances and Joseph Wilson, Bob lived a life defined by quiet strength, steady hands, and a generous heart. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Edward Wilson.
At the center of Bob’s life was his beloved wife, Ann Marie H. Wilson. Their love story began in 1957, blossoming into a beautiful marriage on January 31, 1959. For 67 years, they built a life rooted in faith, commitment, and deep companionship—a true testament to enduring love.
Bob was a devoted father to his daughter, Pamela Wilson Newton and her husband, Kevin Newton, and to his son, Bob “Steve” Wilson and his wife, Judy Wilson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Christopher Newton and his wife, Kristina; Jonathan Newton; Rebecca Bunch and her husband, Dustin; Shane Wilson and his wife, Rachel; and Nicole Duvall and her husband, Travis. He also cherished his step-grandchildren, Corey McGuire and his wife, Alita, and Madeline and her husband, Brian.
His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Jessamyn, Anabella, and Charlotte Newton; Keegan and Colby Wilson; Nova and Luka Duvall; as well as his step-great-grandchildren Sutton, Scarlette, and Ross McGuire. Each of them held a special place in his heart and brought him immeasurable joy.
Bob dedicated his career to hard work and craftsmanship. He was a proud member and retiree of Operating Engineers Local 77, working as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, and later retired from the Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission (WSSC) as a heavy equipment mechanic. He took immense pride in his work, always approaching it with skill, integrity, and determination.
Outside of work, Bob found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He loved working on cars, watching NASCAR and stock car racing, and tackling remodeling and carpentry projects with his hands. But above all else, nothing mattered more to him than time spent with his family. Whether gathered for holidays, sharing stories, or simply being together, those moments were his greatest treasure. Bob spent many years in Davidsonville, Maryland, where he built a home and raised his family from 1966 to 2006, before later residing in Sharptown, Maryland
A man of faith, Bob lived his life guided by Christian values, humility, and kindness. His quiet belief in God was reflected in the way he treated others with patience, compassion, and love. He found peace in knowing that this life is only part of a greater journey, and that through faith, we are promised eternal life. Though his absence leaves a deep void, his family finds comfort in the promise of reunion and the knowledge that he is now at rest in God’s eternal care.
“Well done, good and faithful servant” ; Matthew 25:23
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
