Robert "Bob" Wilkens' Obituary
Robert Newman Wilkens, 68, of Shady Side, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 3rd, 2023.
Bob, the son of Lucian and Wilma Wilkens, was born in Fort Worth, TX on July 17th, 1955. He attended Bellaire High School, class of 1973. Bob worked in Seismic Acquisition as a “Doodlebugger” like his father before him and an Offshore Crew Chief on a seismic boat before starting his own landscaping business, Wilkens Landscapes.
Bob retired and remained in Shady Side, MD where he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Bob could always be counted on to sing a tune and make someone laugh. Everyone who met Bob was an instant friend.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; son, Lucian Wilkens (Jennifer); daughters, Lena Wilkens, Laura Garza (Christian), and Lauren Turner (Scott); grandchildren, Robert Alexander (Savannah) and Andersen Wilkens, Chance Holt, Olive Garza, Kelton, Carter, and Jack Turner; great-grandchild, Lyla Wilkens.
A Celebration of Life will be held by private invitation in Houston on November 11th, 2023 and in Maryland on November 18th, 2023. Details will be provided later.
