Robert Green III's Obituary
Robert Green III, bka “Bobby” was born December 26, 1937 to Robert Green Jr. and Margaret Gross Green in Washington, DC. He departed this life on April 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and grandson, Sergio Smith.
Bobby received his education in Anne Arundel County Public Schools and graduated from Wiley H. Bates High School in 1955. Then he went on to join the U.S. Air Force where he served as a Crew Captain from 1955 to 1965 where he worked on F84 Fighter planes. During his military career he served at Tule Air Base, the U.S. Air Force’s northernmost base located north of the Arctic Circle and North Pole on the Island of Greenland. He further served at Andrews Air Force Base in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Early in life, he loved to draw and was a great artist. He played football and ran track in High School and later played baseball with a league in Annapolis, MD. Also, he loved raising dogs. Later he became employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years and retired.
Bobby loved the Lord with all his heart and answered his call to the ministry. He served as Pastor at Saint Edmonds United Methodist Church in Calvert County, MD. On July 1, 1982 he was assigned to Asbury Town Neck UMC in Severna Park, MD. Many improvements were made and three choirs were organized during his tenure: The Senior Choir, Young Adult Choir (now known as the Gospeleers) and the Rejoicing Angels. He continued his ministry at Cecil Memorial United Methodist Church in Annapolis, MD as Lay Minister for numerous years.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife Lottie A. Green of 43 years. One aunt, Catherine Galloway; two daughters: Roxanne Wallace, Adrienne Rodgers (Theodore); two sons: Sgt. Major Calvin Smith (Ana); Dannie Smith (Sharon); four Grandchildren: Michelle Larkin (Kevin); Michael Wallace (Tina); April Turner; Teisha Rodgers; and Calvin Smith. 11 great-grandchildren: Christopher Gilmer, Christian Gilmer, Makayla Wallace, TaLaya Joseph, Trinity Joseph, Cameron Wallace, Zion Joseph, Naomi Joseph, Audrina Wallace, Samuel Wallace and Carter Smith; brother-in-Laws: Norman Joyce (Helen), Robert Joyce, William Harding (Cachita) and Lee Harding (Hannah); sister-In-Laws: Mable Johnson, Shirley Holland and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; devoted friends: Doris Snowden, Veronica Ramon, and Maurice Neal; devoted cousin: Douglas Green and devoted sister-in-law, Mable Johnson.
