Richard L. Simpson's Obituary
Richard “Dick” Levern Simpson 90, passed away on September 6, 2022. Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1931, he resided in Annapolis since 1970. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Linda Jean Simpson and son Roger Lawrence Simpson. Survived by his daughter Laura and three granddaughters Olivia, Sophia and Daniela.
While growing up in Baltimore, Richard attended Mount Washington School for Boys, Mergenthaler Printing School and Strayer Business School. Richard served his country in the Korean War during 1952-1954 as a Corporal in the Army stationed at The Engineer Center in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He began his career at the United States Government Printing Office “GPO” in 1963 and remained there for 28 years in roles such as a Hand Compositor, Printer, and Proofreader. Richard retired in 1991 from GPO and settled into his retirement years working at Enterprise Golf Course in Mitchellville, Maryland.
Richard was a member of the Fleet Reserve Club where he enjoyed working the boat shows for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion where he played weekly shuffleboard while having beers with his friends. When his three granddaughters weren’t keeping him busy, he loved to attend Raven’s games, golf, fish and boat on the Chesapeake Bay.
The funeral will be a private ceremony with only family present at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. We invite you to make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in Richard’s honor, in place of sending flowers.
