Richard "Rick" E. Baldwin, Jr.'s Obituary
Richard “Rick” E. Baldwin Jr., 61 of Deale, Maryland, formerly of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, affectionately known as “Boompa,” passed away on 31 July, 2016. Rick was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He and his wife Lorrie, née Callow, shared an eternal love and connection that was a deep & true as the sea. His sense of adventure, positive thinking, and mindset to living life to the fullest, was contagious to those around him. He was always quick to lend a hand to those in need, share his valuable advice, or amuse you with his jokes or tales. Day or night, he would drop everything to come to a loved one’s aid, and there was nothing he would not do to care for his loved ones. His Mother, Elizabeth “Betty” and Father, Richard Sr., provided him with unconditional love, respect for your neighbors, strong work ethic that he exemplified to his last day.
Rick was always an idea man, a creative technician towards progress that always saw the big picture when others were blind to the possibilities or potential within every situation. A strong love for the water all his life, Rick needed to be near it, sail on it, swim in it, and later, make it his profession. Water is diverse in how it can be used and is essential to life, it is by no surprise that Rick was very much the embodiment of water, diverse and essential to those he had impacted in their lives.
All fortunate enough to have met, learned from, pitched by, or loved by Rick (Lolly, Babe, Boompa, Dad, Uncle Rick, Ricardo, Flash, and Friend) know that Rick was indeed a card, a genuine article, and indeed a big fish in a small pond.
Rick is survived by his wife, Lorrie and cat Fidel, son Richard III (Athena, grandchildren Richard IV, Gregory Alexander, Charles Dale), mother Elizabeth, sister Patricia “George,” brother James (niece Kira), brother Charles (Kathy), brother Jeffrey (Moni, nephew Jeffrey), Mother-in law, Doris, Brothers- in-law, Kurt and Cliff Callow.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, August 27th from 11am at Linfield United Church of Christ, 25 Reformed Rd, Linfield, PA. Refreshments immediately following the service.
