Richard Edward Richardson's Obituary
Richard Edward “Dick” Richardson, 87, of Annapolis, Maryland, formerly of Longs, South Carolina, and Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center on July 14, 2013.
Dick was born in Baltimore City and attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Soon after graduation, Dick enlisted in the Army Air Force where he served his country as an airplane mechanic. Dick went on to attend Johns Hopkins University where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity and played football for the Hopkins Blue Jays. Dick worked for many years at Martin Marietta in Middle River and the Department of Defense in Linthicum and Towson.
Dick and his wife, Betty, retired to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where they enjoyed playing golf and walking the beach. Dick enjoyed reading about the Civil War, collecting pens and watches and listening to music.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Edwards Richardson, his parents, William Huntley Richardson and Helen Buttner Richardson and his brother, Comer Robert Richardson. Dick is survived by his son, William E. Richardson of Great Falls, Virginia, his daughter, Laura B. Richardson of Annapolis, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A time of remembrance will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013, from 2 to 4 at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, in Annapolis, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Disabled American Veterans.
