Very sorry to hear the terrible news, Christine and Julian.
Rick was a wonderful colleague here at WHOI and played an important part in making the National Ocean Sciences AMS Facility visible to the marine sciences community. To this day we rely on some of his software applications to produce quality radiocarbon data for our clients. I regretted to see him move on in 2008, but realized that he had much more to offer to the ocean modeling community. He will be missed!

I had several scientific collaborations with Rick, but we were also friends. I appreciated his upbeat approach and his readiness to help. He was always eager to contribute and equally eager to consider colleagues' opinions. He has left us too soon!
