Crystal and I met Mr. Richard and Mayumi in my experience as an international Midshipman on foreign exchange in the Naval Academy - he generously opened his home to us in our years in the United States. We spent many memorable weekends together in Annapolis, even during their travels to Singapore.
Mr. Richard and Mayumi, thank you for the moments that you both have touched our lives. Thank you for having blessed us with your warm hospitality - through you we have experienced selfless giving, generosity and kindness. We will fondly remember the times we have shared, the hearty meals and meaningful conversations.
To Mayumi, Ken and Erica, we pray that peace and strength will be with you.

Mr Richard Gragg took me in as a midshipman when I was studying at the Naval Academy as an overseas foreign exchange student. Alone in a foreign country, Mr Gragg treated me as family and welcomed me generously into his home - where we shared several memories over four years of dinner, kayaking, sailing by the creek, and just hanging out around Annapolis. He is truly a great and wonderful person who not just served as a mentor, but an inspiration to me.
My condolences to Mayumi, Ken, and Erica. Sending you guys lots of love from Singapore. You guys will always be that second family to me and Mr Gragg will truly be missed.
I worked with Rich at DISA from 2005 - 2011. I first met him, however, at JAC Molesworth in the UK much earlier when he came for a site visit. I really enjoyed working with him, he was a great man with a wonderful sense of humor who always had a smile on his face. He will be missed.
Richard or as I called him Mr. G was my best friend Erica’s dad in high school. I had lost my dad at a young age and Mr. G became a wonderful friend and father figure to me. I have fond memories of sitting around the dinner table after enjoying an amazing meal. I didn’t want to leave the table. I could sit for hours conversing with him and his family. We have so many amazing memories that will fill my ❤️. I have been pretty emotional since I found out the news. I am sending a huge virtual hug to all of his family! I love you all!

Then-Commander Gragg was my boss with CCDG-1 when we took Battle Group Alpha to the gulf for Operation Ernest Will. Between the flagships USS Long Beach and USS Midway, a long 11 months on the other side of the world. He always looked out for and mentored this young Lieutenant - I learned so much from him and will always be grateful.
I met Rich when he came to Commander U.S. Naval Forces, Japan in Yokosuka, Japan in 1971 and we were very good friends from that time. He was a wonderful, kind person and we will all miss him. Richard Briggs, Palos Verdes, California
I had so many interactions with Rich throughout the years. First, as a Navy Chief stationed at DISA. Rich had me install an I3 suite at DIA. Throughout the years I worked for him on various projects.
Gave me direction on my post Naval career. Steered me to my first job..
