Richard Stanley Ashby Jr.'s Obituary
Richard Stanley Ashby, Jr. was born April 6, 1949 in Annapolis, MD to the late Richard Stanley Ashby Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Ashby-Thomas. He departed this life on Saturday, July 27 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD after a short illness.
He attended Ralph J. Bunch Elementary and Wiley E. Bates High School. At the age of 20, he enlisted into the United States Army in 1969. Richard Achieved the ranks of wireman M-14 sharpshooter. He was honored with a National Defense Service Medal before being honorably discharged in March of 1975.
Richard was employed by various landscaping companies in the Davidsonville area until his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, and landscaping around his home and the homes of other family members. He mostly loved the visits and company of his many friends and relatives. Richard was a home body, staying close to family and friends, but was always willing to help those in need. His friends meant the world to him, especially with a good conversation which always lead to hearty laughs and a smile on his face.
He leaves to mourn his passing, mother, Mildred E. Ashby-Thomas; six sisters Barbara Ashby, Cynthia Wren, Amanda Hunt, Crystal Ashby, Patsy Thomas and Lolita Ashby; two brothers, Warren A. Ashby and Wainn Wright; one brother-in-law, Carroll Hunt, Jr.; one adopted brother, David Pickford; two nieces, two nephews, four great nieces, one great nephew and a host of other family members and friends who will also cherish his memory.
