Randolph Elliott Sr. 's Obituary
Randolph Aldon Elliott, Sr. the son of the late Howard and Rena Elliott was born June 26, 1928 in Cordtown, Cambridge, Maryland.
Randolph was the seventh child of seventeen children. He was raised and began his education in Cordtown, Cambridge, Maryland. He graduated from Frederick Douglas St. Clair High School in 1945.
Randolph departed this life on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland.
After graduating he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and faithfully served for eight years. While serving, he completed multiple tours in the Korean War on the U.S.S. New Jersey.
Upon returning home he worked multiple jobs, including serving as a waiter at the St. Michael ‘s Country Club. He relocated to Annapolis, Maryland where he gained employment at the Annapolis Yacht Club. He later became owner and operator of Randy’s Cleaners. After closing his business he joined the staff of Admiral Cleaners as a General Manager until his retirement.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to G. Doretha Thomas for 44 blissful years. From this union two children became the love of their life.
Randolph accepted the Lord as his personal Savior at an early age. He later joined and served as a faithful member of Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church, where he served as a Trustee, Steward, Armour Bearer and on the Finance Committee.
Randolph was a member of the, Prince Hall Masonic Lodge, where he served as a Shriner for Jerusalem Temple #4, Del-Gents, and the Burger King Morning Crew.
Randy, as he was affectionately called, truly loved his family. He loved to sit and talk about how they enjoyed being around one another especially when they praised the Lord through songs. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed telling jokes and stories about his brother “Leroy” when they were young. One of Randy’s greatest concerns was that the family continue to stay together and love one another.
He enjoyed having friends and love ones come visit. Randy was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that was in need. To know him was to love him.
To share his loving memories are his daughter, Charmaine Waters, of Annapolis, MD; his son Randolph, Jr (Donna), Harrisburg, PA; eight grandchildren, Ashley Elliott Bennett (Kareem), Paige Elliott, Taylynn Elliott, Rhamel Peyton Elliott, Kianu, Savannah and Nevada Walker, one great granddaughter, Jada Bennett and Earl Slacum (Rachael) whom he raised as a son. Additionally, he leaves one sister, Rev. Marvel Travis (Kenneth), 2 brothers, Palestine Elliott (Mary), Frederick Elliott (Constance), 3 sisters in law, Mary Morris (Ernest), Geraldine Brummell, Georgetta Potter.
He had several close friends, Frank Gibson (Joan), a special nephew Howard Blake (Debbie) and two devoted friends Rev. James Sherrod (Roxanne) and Clay Gloster , a special caregiver, Dean Alexander and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doretha 27 days ago, eight brothers and 5 sisters.
