R. Douglas "Doug" Pond, 80. of Crofton, Maryland passed away at home on November 1, 2019 after a long fight with cancer. Family members were at his side in his final hours. He was born to Bob and Elizabeth Pond in Washington, D.C. Read Obituary

Mr. Pond was always a warm and peaceful presence when we crossed paths on Crofton Parkway as he'd walk the dog. I appreciated being his next-door neighbour for the past few years and also greatly appreciate Mrs. Verna Pond. They were also greatly supportive when my dad passed away in July this year. My prayers, support, and best wishes are with Mr. Pond and his whole family. May Mr. Pond's soul continue its journey into wisdom and joy in the Otherworld! The love of his family and friends accompany him!
Doug was a great friend and as his obituary noted a fierce competitor. He was the heart of our Department of Labor Running Group. You didn't want to miss a lunchtime run with Doug; he made it fun. During the week we ran and laughed together. On the weekend it was sometimes competition. In our Running Group, Doug and I were probably the most closely matched in running ability. We ran many races together with Doug beating me half the time and my winning the other half. He loved to start off slow and come by me after a mile or two with a little smile on his face. Our weekday training together and weekend competitions years ago made us lifelong friends. I will miss him greatly.
