Philip E. McKenna
Philip E. McKenna of Annapolis, MD died on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. He was 74.
Philip was born on January 13, 1937 to the late Philip E. McKenna, Sr. and Dorothy Horton McKenna. He attended Loyola High School, later graduated from Loyola College, and began serving his country enlisting in the U.S. Army and later was honorably discharged. On April 11, 1959, he married Joan Reely, making their home in Catonsville, MD and later in Eldersburg, MD. In 1994 they moved to Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, MD.
Philip began his career as a certified public accountant working as a corporate executive for FairLanes, Inc. in Baltimore, MD, where he became Vice President and Controller. In 1989, he began working with the Securities and Exchange Commission, retiring in 1999.
Philip enjoyed playing golf, with Bay Hills being his favorite local course. He participated in the Senior Olympics and will be remembered for his volunteer activities with Somerford Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s Care Annapolis, MD, Harbour Lights and as a Eucharistic Minister and Arimathean with St. John Neumann Church.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by two children, Patricia Anne McKenna of San Diego, CA and David Matthew McKenna and his wife Holly of Atlanta, GA; sister, Elizabeth Anne Allegretti and her husband, Fred of Johnsburg, IL; and two grandchildren, Jack David McKenna and Brody Matthew McKenna of Roswell, GA.
A visitation will be held at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, P.A., 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 5 – 7 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 9 am. Burial will follow at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
