I knew Peter Gill as an extremely competent, compassionate, and responsible psychotherapist. A man of integrity, he was extraordinarily bright and witty, taking his work seriously, but not taking himself too seriously. Never pompous, he hooted at pretensions. Peter served me well as a supervisor when I had a part-time counseling practice. We parted on fine terms when I'd accomplished my goals: having a job I loved, a good marriage and a wonderful daughter - that was about 33 years ago, and husband and daughter continue to be the great joys of my life. After therapy, when I was still in his supervision group, I continued to make Peter a birthday cake every February, a cream sponge cake he loved.
Condolences to Jock, Johanna, Jane C., Jane R., and all the grandchildren.
