Patricia Frances De Smet's Obituary
Patricia F. De Smet, 65, left this world peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 16, 2024, but not without leaving a lifetime of love, laughter, and joy behind. Born on October 6, 1958, Patricia filled every moment with warmth, strength, and a bit of sass.
She is reunited now with her beloved husband, Thomas De Smet, and her parents, Elma and Macario Luna. Though we are certain there is a family reunion happening, we will keep their legacy alive here on Earth.
Survived by her devoted son, Daniel Luna, and his wife Leslie, Patricia spent the last 11 years making the absolute best of retirement, living with them, and creating treasured memories alongside her grandchildren, Gabriel and Alexandra, and her great-granddaughter SaNova. Those who knew her could attest to her ability to keep everyone on their toes—and to sneak treats to the grandkids when no one was looking!
Patricia was a proud and devoted sister to her three brothers: Mack (and his wife Rosemary), Fred (and his wife Michele), and Paul (and his wife Shirley). She had an incredible bond with her nieces Emily, Sara, and Rachael, and her nephews, Brandon, and Ashley, who always looked up to their “cool aunt” who made every family gathering brighter. Patricia also leaves behind a vibrant circle of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and an abundance of many loving friends, all of whom she treated as family.
After 20 years in the banking industry (during which she undoubtedly kept the books balanced and the customers charmed), Patricia decided she was not done making an impact. She switched careers to become an X-ray technician, where she spent another 20 years helping people—and maybe telling a joke or two to lighten the mood in the process. She truly loved her work, her colleagues, and the patients whose lives she touched.
Patricia’s legacy is one of humor, love, travel, and dedication to family. She had a knack for making the simplest moments unforgettable, and those who loved her will continue to share stories of her wit and kindness for generations to come.
In her honor, we ask that you laugh a little louder, hug your loved ones a little tighter, and maybe sneak someone a cookie (Patricia would approve). She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
