O. Joseph Giaraffa's Obituary
On Friday, August 17, 2012, Onofrio Joseph Giaraffa (Joe), 88, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy Giaraffa; two sons, Charles Giaraffa and Michael Giaraffa; two daughters, Rosemary Nye and Margaret Lamb; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Born in Hanover, PA, Joe grew up in Baltimore. He attended St. Ambrose School and Baltimore City College where he earned letters in baseball, football and track. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Baltimore. He served with the United States Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict as Sergeant in the 11th Engineer Battalion.
Joe retired after a successful 30 year career at Metropolitan Life Insurance, as an Insurance Consultant Manager. Joe’s Christian faith blessed him with his compassion and understanding of others which led to his success in his career and in life.
A visitation will be held at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care 814 Bestgate Rd. Annapolis, MD on Wednesday August 22, 2012 between 5pm and 8pm. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD
