Odessa Buford's Obituary
On May 13,2025 God in his infinite wisdom called home our beloved Odessa Buford, also known as “Dessie”, at Fairfield Nursing Home in Crownsville, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Ivory and Gladys Buford.
Odessa grew up in Parole and received her education at the Anne Arundel Public School, graduating in 1968 from Annapolis Senior High School.
She worked for numerous years at the former ARINC (Aeronautical Radio, Incorporated) in Annapolis, Maryland. Later she was employed as a loan processor at the Department of Housing and Community Development, where she retired due to illness.
Odessa gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Olive A.M. E. church and the Georgianna Boston Missionary Society.
She was a very quiet person who enjoyed spending time traveling throughout many states with her beloved late daughter Courtney Buford and especially visiting her family in Detroit, Michigan. Her most favorite time was watching the Young and Restless during the day. At the nursing home she stayed up all night watching the Hallmark channel shows and when visiting her after church on Sundays, she would open her eyes for a few minute and never wake up to talk to you. Before her illness she loved dancing and spending time on the phone with her friends.
Odessa was preceded in death by her parents Ivory and Gladys Buford, devoted daughter Courtney Buford, brothers Cornell and Elque Buford.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son Lamar Buford of Mainz, Germany; one grandson DeVon Buford; one granddaughter Tansha Buford both of Matzenbach, Germany; one great-grandson Branden Easton of Matzenbach, Germany and daughter-in-law Kamilla Buford of Mainz, Germany. Devoted lifetime friends who watched over and cared for her until the end, Carlise Murden and Valeria Johnson; devoted caregiver Geraldine Jones; devoted friends and co-workers Darlene Taylor, Jacqueline Evans and Jane Linnbaum. Also care assistant Chioma (Rose) Onukwue.
Dessie will be deeply missed.
