Nancy Stephen Mitch Wetzel's Obituary
Nancy Stephen Mitch Wetzel, 72 of Annapolis Maryland, died April 19, 2012, at her daughter’s residence.
Nancy was born and raised in Keyser West Virginia. She was a graduate of West Virginia University and dedicated 35 years to public school education as a business teacher. She worked 31 years in Anne Arundel County at Brooklyn Park High School, Annapolis H.S. and Broadneck H.S. Upon retirement she moved to St. Simons Island, GA where she taught at Brunswick H.S. for four years.
Nancy dedicated much of her energy towards raising two daughters. She was a person of tremendous strength and she “Did it her way”. Nancy enjoyed playing golf three days a week, bridge two days a week and traveling to Europe, cruise destinations and beaches around the globe.
We will remember Nancy by more than the following that describe her so well: “SPECIAL”, generous, loving, loyal, fun, classy, sassy, sophisticated, kind, a giver, put you at ease, caring, easy to be around, warm, spirited, strong, fun loving, relationship person, girlfriend, elegant, glamorous, loved life, funny, confident, made everyone feel comfortable, when you met her you felt like you had known her for a long time, accomplished but never took life to seriously, always saw the good in others, true class act, always made the best of whatever life brought along, no expectations of others, always put others first, enthusiasm for life.
Nancy will always be remembered saying, “Things happen for a reason. Nothing is a “fait accompli”. Time heals everything. If plan A doesn’t work out, then go to plan B. Life is not a dress rehearsal, every day is opening night. When in doubt, don’t. Roll it around for 24 hours. “
Always compassionate and thoughtful she lifted everyone’s spirits. She had such a beautiful smile, such happiness and delight she brought to the lives of so many people. Nancy was admired for her accomplishments and endearing personality. She was an amazing mom and so patient. Her zest for life was infectious, as she was a wonderful lady, good friend and loving mother. Nancy enriched everyone’s life and her children are so grateful and blessed to have the relationship with her that they did.
Nancy is survived by her husband Bill; daughters, Michele Mitch Peterson and Rebecca Mitch McKee; grandchildren, Gabrielle Nicole Peterson, Geoffrey Stephen McKee and Matthew Edward McKee; Sister, Shirley Maybury Egan; Nieces, Cecelia Maybury Yourshaw and Melissa Maybury Lubin; and too many loving friends to count.
