Monroe Crowner Harrod's Obituary
Monroe Crowner Harrod Sr. was the son of the late Dorothy Harrod Fenwick and Clarence Monroe Crowner. He was born in Baltimore, MD on July 25, 1941, he was 72 years life when his life ended, way too soon. He was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Lee Jones and stepson Derrick Chew.
Mon, as he was often called, maintained a close bond with his former mother-in-law Marry Randall. His marriage of 25 years to Margaret G. Black resulted in a caring, loving, and endearing friendship. Together they have six (6) surviving children: Stanley A. Kent of Glen Burnie, MD, Doris V. Harrod and Percy O. Harrod of Edgewater, MD, Monroe C. Harrod of Baltimore, MD, Regina D. Chew of San Diego, CA, and Nathaniel Harrod of Edgewater MD. He has two daughters-in-law,: Valyncia A. Harrod and Vera B. Kent.
He also leaves to mourn four (4) brothers: Wilbert Crowner, Steven Harrod, Harold Harrod, and Clinton Harrod of Baltimore, MD., and one (1) sister: Claudia Buchanan. He had two sisters who preceded him in death: Irene Harrod and Dorothy Hopkins. He has had at least up to 10 brothers-in-law and 15 sisters-in-law.
He adored many children and considered at least 17 as his own grandchildren: Damario, Tiesha, Priscilla, Maiya, Tiffany, Angelo, Shawanda, Wanda, Stanley Jr., Jeremiah, Cherish, Cameron, Mari, Zadiaya, Jaron, and Zaria.
Monroe comes from a very large family. He has had more than a few close friends, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and associates who will truly miss him.
He was educated in Baltimore Public School Systems. He was employed as a carpenter for Ceco Steele for twenty-five (25) years.
He was heavily involved and loved riding his Harley David Motorcycle, with the “Concert On Wheels.” He was a member with for thirty (30) years. He had traveled around the states numerous times. He received many trophies and he enjoyed riding with his Harley Davidson Family.
Our father was loved by people. He believed in having and using manners. He had a great sense of humor. Like his mom, he brightened up things everywhere he went with his smiles and comedic type demeanor. You could never get a straight answer out of him. He loved cutting up. He often said, “I can’t help it that I was born good looking instead of rich.” He enjoyed being outside and working on his car and motorcycle. He liked hunting, cooking, drawing, playing cards, and horseshoeing. He enjoyed watching the Orioles and Ravens. Watching football on Sundays, with his sons was among his cherished moments. He used to swim a lot, enjoyed roller-skating and going to amusement parks to ride rollercoasters. He had many interests. He even wanted to be a professional boxer.
He believed in a Higher Source. He cherished his own relationship with Jehovah God and Jesus Christ. He always prayed and encouraged people to KEEP THE FAITH!!
