Milton Jerome Graves, Sr.'s Obituary
Milton Jerome Graves, Sr. lovingly known as ‘(Mickey)’ departed this life on Sunday February 5, 2023 at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Mickey was born on October 12, 1946 in Camp Parole, Maryland to the late Jane Lorraine Graves, Raymond Horsey and his (adopted father) George Graves Sr. Mickey attended Parole Elementary School and graduated from the Wiley H Bates High School, class of 1964. Mickey was united in marriage to Rosemary Smith Graves on February 16, 1967.
Mickey worked several jobs before being drafted in the military. After receiving his honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corps, Mickey was at Safeway and with the United States Naval Academy until he retired in 2014.
Mickey was an avid sports fan. He loved football; his favorite team was the Baltimore Ravens. He also loved boxing, and truly enjoyed the old Motown sounds. Mickey was the jokester of the family always joking and teasing his siblings. He kept us all in stitches (laughing).
Mickey was preceded in death by his mother; Jane Lorraine Graves, father; Raymond Horsey; (adopted father) George Graves Sr, mother-in-law; Evelyn Smith, father-in-law; Charles Smith Sr, son; Milton Jerome Graves Jr., brother; James Edward Graves, Sr. (Jack). Two brothers-in-law; Michael Smith and Carlester Smith and one sister-in-law; Roberta Smith.
Mickey leaves fond memories to be cherished by his loving wife, Rosemary Graves of 56 years. Three daughters, Rosalee Godard Grant (Dane), Marlena Hardy, Michelle Graves (FattiPoo). Four grandsons; Roy Hardy (Tanya), Jalen Godard, Curtis Godard, and Dewayne Godard. Three great-granddaughters; Leah, Saylor and Tru Hardy. One great-grandson; Carter Godard. Seven sisters; Janet Chase (Wilber), Janny Gilmore, Temperance Graves, Jamison Witherspoon (Jill), Kim Knight, Karen Beans and Katherine Gross. Three brothers; George Graves, Jr. (Rosalee), William Gregory Graves, Sr.(Priscilla), Reverend Dr. Kevin M. Graves. Two sisters-in-law; Rhonda Gross (Paul) and Brenda Williams. Two brothers-in-law; Charles Smith Jr. and Robert Smith. One Special Aunt Viola Johnson (Clarence). Also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 17, at 10:00 am until the start of Milton's service at 11:00 am. All events will take place at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD. Interment at Crownsville Veteran's Cemetery will take place at a future date.
