Melba Dean Martin's Obituary
Melba Dean Martin, age 87, passed away on Sunday April 9, 2023 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD.
She was born in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Ambrose M. Weaver and Pearl K. (Richardson) Weaver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Martin; her brother, Curtis Mae Weaver, and her sister, Alma Lee Hurley.
She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a 1955 graduate of Marion College, a Lutheran junior women’s college.
She and Billy were members of the Faith Lutheran Church in Whitetop, VA.
She raised her family in Northern Virginia and enjoyed hosting family get togethers on birthdays, holidays, and game days.
When she retired to her beloved childhood home on Mud Creek, in Whitetop, VA, she was a caregiver to her mother, Pearl. During renovations, space was set aside for her grandkids to visit.
Survivors include her sons: Nathan Ray (wife, Kim) Martin of Springfield, VA and Joe Allen (wife, Mary) Martin of Annapolis, MD; four grandchildren: Joshua Ryan (wife, Tessa) Martin, Jordan Ambrose Martin, Noelani Pearl Martin, Nicole Elizabeth Lee Martin; one step-grandson, Jason Holt; and one great-granddaughter, Bernadette Joann Martin.
There will be a visitation at Lasting Tributes on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 6-7:30 pm. Her funeral service will begin at 7:30 pm. A prayer service and burial will take place in Marion, VA at a future date.
