Maude Ellen Brown's Obituary
Maude Ellen Brown was born October 7, 1936 to the Late Samuel and Beatrice Brown Tongue. She departed this life on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD after a lengthy illness.
Maude was united in marriage February 2, 1962 to Charles Brown, Sr; from that union they had three children.
Maude attended Anne Arundel County public schools and graduated from the former Wiley H. Bates High School in Annapolis, Maryland in June 1954. She briefly worked as a custodian for the Anne Arundel County Board of Education.
At an early age, she began attending Hope Chapel Church Sunday school. She was secretary of the first youth group (MYF), secretary for the first young people choir, a bible schoolteacher, former member of the nurses unit, member of the Senior Choir and member and secretary of the former Silveretts Gospel Singers. She continued over the years to be a faithful and supportive member of Hope St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Maude’s hobbies were listening to gospel music, going to gospel concerts, solving word search puzzles, fishing and watching Westerns on TV. She enjoyed spending precious moments with her children and grandchildren, and going to family gatherings.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters Delorce (Mae) Collins, Pearlene (Earl) Brown-Siscoe, Jeanene Butler, Dennene (Sandi) Graves all of Annapolis, MD, and two sons, Charles (Melissa) Brown, Jr of Brooklyn Park, MD and Joseph Brown of Annapolis, MD; a devoted sister Beatrice Tongue of Annapolis, MD, three adopted brothers Lawrence Tasker, Sr, Emanuel Tongue and William Tongue; twenty-one grandchildren - Richard (India) Brown, Jr., Renee (Tony) Octavien, Kaleil Bulow, Kamiya Brown-Siscoe, Kyonte Brown-Siscoe, Charles W. Brown III, Charles A. Brown, Cushard Brown, Ronald King II, Kelvin King, Joseph A. Brown Jr, Brittney Brown, Lakia Brown, Brandon Brown, Shyniece Brown, Joseph C. Brown, Ashley Brown, Raven Warren, Sterlene Hill, Keniesha Hill, Maiysha Graves; seventeen great-children; Two brothers-in-law John (Nora) Brown, Raymond (Barbara) Brown, two sisters-in-law Nancy Johnson, and Gladys Randall; two devoted cousins, Evelyn Mooreman and Margaret Harris; devoted friends Nora Brown, Dennis Sharps; devoted nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Her favorite hymn is “Order My Steps In Your Words”. Her favorite bible verse is John 1: 1-11.
