Mary Lee Woodruff's Obituary
Mary Lee (Benjamin) Woodruff passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024 at home in Maryland with family by her side. The oldest of four, Mary Lee was born in Pittsfield, Illinois on November 10, 1939 to Loren Fred Benjamin and Laura Jane (Doil) Benjamin.
Mary Lee attended Nebo, Illinois schools until they moved high school to Pittsfield, Illinois. She graduated from Pittsfield High School and married Robert (Bill) William Woodruff in September 1956. They were married for 50 years and had five children together. Bill preceded her in death.
Up until her final days, she enjoyed chatting with visitors, maintaining her spunk, colorful style and sense of humor. She loved reading (as well as a good debate) and never lost her curiosity and interest in learning something new. Family and friends were important to her. She especially enjoyed chats with her grandchildren of whom she was very proud.
Mary Lee is survived by her children, Malea (Woodruff) Templeton (Bryan), Will Woodruff (Lori), Drew Woodruff (Billi), Sherri (Woodruff) German (Steve) and daughter-in-law Kelly Mulholland Woodruff (Eric). Grandchildren: Ashley McKittrick, Nathan Templeton, Brodey Woodruff, Sydney (Woodruff) Boustead (Jimmy), Carley (Woodruff) Cobb (Christian), Caelyn Woodruff, Matthew Woodruff, John Woodruff, Eleanor Woodruff, Christopher German, Great-grandchildren: Cameren Woodruff, Mazey Cobb, Elexis Cobb, Sophie Herbers and sisters Bette (Benjamin) Garrison and Lois (Benjamin) Carter as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her father, Loren Fred Benjamin, her mother, Laura Jane (Doil) Benjamin, Brother, Michael Fred Benjamin and beloved son Eric Woodruff. We take comfort in knowing she is now joyfully reunited with loved ones who preceded her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Illinois where Mary Lee lived for many years prior to moving to Maryland. Details pending.
