Mary Helen Woodie's Obituary
Mary Helen Woodie, age 93, a resident of Severna Park, MD, for the past six years, died on 9/17/2016. Prior to moving to Severna Park, she lived in Washington, D.C. for 66 years. Helen was born in Peak Creek, North Carolina on August 17, 1923. In April, 1942 she graduated from Nathan's Creek High School, near Peak Creek, NC, and shortly thereafter moved to Baltimore to work at the Glenn L. Martin Company. After a short time there, she took a job with the National Geographic Magazine in Washington, D.C., where she was employed for approximately 45 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edgar Woodie and Isabell Dancy Woodie of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Edna M. Torres of San Juan, P.R., a brother, Paul E. Woodie, Sr. of Baltimore, MD; and a nephew, Gary L. Woodie of Matthews, NC. She is survived by nephew, Paul E. Woodie, Jr. (Carolyn) of Annapolis, MD. There will be a private burial in Peak Creek, NC.
