Mary T. Sherman's Obituary
Mary Ritchie Tilghman Farish Sherman, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home on July 13, 2020 following a hard-fought battle against cancer. She was born July 20, 1938 to Virginia and Edward Farish of Manhasset, NY. In 1961, she married her husband David Russell Sherman of Westbury, NY.
A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Mary began her career as a hospital dietician before choosing to raise her family on the south shore of Long Island. Later, she had a successful career in real estate prior to retiring to Maryland.
Mary had a quick wit that she used frequently to deliver quips in a way that only she could. She enjoyed traveling, reading, solving crossword puzzles and passing time outdoors. Mary also loved spending time with her family, pets and many friends and was thrilled to welcome her great grandson into the world earlier this year.
Mary is survived by her sons, Michael and James; her sister Nancy; her granddaughters Nicole, Amelia and Heather; and her great grandson Michael Joseph. Mary was predeceased by her husband, David. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 25 at 11:00 am. Parking at Quiet Waters Park has already been paid for all attendees by the family. The family suggests that donations may be made in memory of Mary to the American Cancer Society.
