Mary Elizabeth Galloway's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Galloway affectionately known as Puddin, 78, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at her home in Annapolis after a lengthy illness.
Puddin was born on December 7, 1945 in Sudley, Maryland. She was the eldest of ten children born to the late Haley Forrester, Sr. and Gertrude Watkins-Forrester. She attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools. On February 13, 1982 Puddin married the love of her life; Mack Samuel Galloway Sr. They enjoyed more than 40 years together before his passing in 2020. Puddin was the matriarch and the glue that kept our family together. She was an open hearted “giving” person who utilized her cooking skills to bring people together in good and bad times. Puddin was well known for her cooking skills. You could mention her name to anybody in the community and they would start naming some of her dishes that she had prepared for them. Just to say cooking was her passion is an understatement. She took great pride and joy preparing her specialty dishes which are too many to list. Holiday dinners was Puddin’s time to shine. She would cook so much food we had to set up extra tables just for the food and desserts. Puddin also liked helping others and giving back to the community where she lived. She was the president of the Sophisticated Grands Social Club. Puddin along with fellow members: Tamela Spencer, Patricia Holliday, the late Mabel Cromwell, the late Roxanne Thompson, Deborah Pack, Karenne Blunt, and Nola Smith. The group came together to provide summer and after school meals for neighborhood children in the Eastport Terrace and Harbor House communities. Puddin also loved doing arts and crafts. She had a flair for making artificial flower arrangements. She also loved to watch tv soap operas. The Young and the restless and bold and beautiful are her favorites to watch. Puddin was preceded in death by her parents, Haley Sr. and Gertrude Forrester; husband Mack Galloway Sr.; son Calvin Parker, four brothers Douglas Forrester, Richard Forrester, Haley Forrester Jr, & Larry Forrester, one sister Janice Forrester. Puddin leaves to cherish her memories: one son: Thomas Sellman (Demetria); and Roxanne Sellman; Angela Henson (Vashon) .
