Mary Sylvia Brown's Obituary
Mary Sylvia Wilson Brown was called home by the Lord to her eternal resting place on Saturday September 10th, 2022. She was proceeded in death by her husband William Sr, daughter Lorelei, son William Jr, and sisters Hazel Parker and Sephronia Ford. Sylvia was born on July 1st, 1939, to the late Ida Anna Wilson and was the second eldest of seven children. Sylvia graduated from Wiley Bates High School on June 13th, 1957. Later that same year on December 25th, she was united in marriage to (the late) William Brown Sr. This union was blessed with two children, (the late) Lorelei D. Brown, and (the late) William Brown Jr. In 1980, while attending Morning Star Baptist Church, the entire family was baptized. Sylvia was employed with the State of Maryland and Baltimore City from 1969 until her retirement in 2001. She retired to enjoy and spend time with her grandchildren.
Sylvia enjoyed bowling and even placed 1st in the Battle of City All Stars in 1986. She was a member of the St. Mark community for 15+ years and was well known for her role in the choir. Sylvia was known as one of the matriarchs from the Wilson Town Community and will continue to leave a legacy behind her. She was always giving back to her community and would make donations often to those in need. Sylvia loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially her great grandchildren. This would sometimes include playing hidden object games, Monopoly or even frequent trips to the store just to spend time together.
Left to mourn in her loss and rejoice in her memory are her two grandchildren, Miranda Brown and William Brown III, future grandson in-law Joshua Griffith, three great grandchildren Arabella, Amara, and Azaria Griffith, daughter in-law Belinda Harrison, sisters Nettie Ford and Arlene Stanley, brothers Richard and Major Ford, God daughter Wanda Alston, dear friend Donna Williams, cousin Everdean and her husband Donald Holloway, and many more relatives and friends. Her presence will be greatly missed and forever cherished.
