Martin Joel Perkins' Obituary
Martin Joel Perkins 62 of Annapolis Md, Co-founder of Bru-Mar Gardens Nursery & Gifts passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at home after a long battle with cancer.
Martin was born May 29, 1961, in Buffalo, NY to the late Bibianne Schwartz and Glenn Perkins. He was a graduate of Kenmore East Senior High School in 1980. He then went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1984 to 1996 as a NATO Seasparrow Surface Missile System Technician, Navy Recruiter, and Instructor, receiving several commendations throughout his career.
In 1999, he became Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Bru-Mar Gardens Nursery & Gifts, a Garden Center and Gift Store serving the Annapolis area. He led the company with his persistent, intuitive business sense. He was a driving force in making the business successful. Martin will be remembered for his warm, kind heart and witty sense of humor.
He leaves his husband of 27 years, Bruce Martin; siblings: Mark (Susan) Perkins of GA, the late William (Patricia) Perkins of NY, Anne Perkins of CA, the late Mary Perkins of NC, Polly (Michael) Geren of GA; seven stepbrothers and stepsisters; nieces and nephews: Joel (Kelly) Perkins of PA, Scott (Ashley) Perkins of CA, Mark (Elizabeth) Perkins of NY, Christina (Brian) Doyle of VA, Thomas Martin of MA, Katie (Robert) Martin-Plankey of MA, Brinee Martin of VA, Adrien Moses of MA, Zachary (Audra) Moses of IN, Ben (Emma) Martin of ME, Vicki Moses of IN, Colt Martin of MA, and ten grandnieces and grandnephews.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Reception will be held on Saturday, September 16th from 4-8 pm at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. All are welcome.
