Marjorie "MarLou" Klamp's Obituary
Marjorie (MarLou) Maestri Klamp, 66, passed away from Parkinson’s Disease on May 12, 2023.
MarLou was born in Annapolis, MD, on August 3, 1956. She was the daughter of Raymond Maestri and Patricia (Bell) Maestri. Her father was a pilot in the Air Force and as a child she moved several times. Her high school years found her settled in Severna Park, Maryland where she attended Severna Park High School (SPHS). She excelled academically and was a majorette in the high school marching band. Marlou graduated from SPHS in 1974 and went on to attend University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) where she played lacrosse and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She married Thomas Klamp and they moved to a beautiful little neighborhood in Manhattan Beach - Severna Park, where they raised their girls. The neighborhood was filled with many children and she valued her relationships with other mothers on their street (Rausell Place). She liked to go on walks and plant flowers in the yard.
MarLou was a caring, patient, compassionate, and loving woman. After beginning her professional career as a software programmer, she pursued her passion for caring for others, and her interest in the medical field, by returning to school to become a registered nurse. She began as a floor nurse working the night shift in the Anne Arundel Medical Center intensive care unit. MarLou sacrificed many hours of sleep so that she could work and still be home during the day with her two daughters, whom she loved deeply and dearly. A better schedule and amazing friendships came with her move to Ask AAMC where she remained until her retirement in 2018. In younger years she loved to water ski and swim. MarLou was an amazing artist whose talent could be seen in her drawings and sewing. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and traveling with her best friend. By far, her greatest love and joy of all was her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters Christina (Jim) Davidson and Skylar (Patrick) Klenkel. Her precious grandchildren Skylar, Jimmy, Heath, Jake, Ike, Layla, and Reese. Her sisters, Deborah Mooney, Kimberly (Rubin) Maestri, and Patricia Maestri. Her best friends Janet Henery, Dawn Leaf, and Lisa Gilmer as well as many other friends and family members.
A memorial service will be held Monday May 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew by the Bay, 701 College Parkway, Annapolis, Maryland 21409.
