Margo Parker's Obituary
“Margo” or “Go” (as she was affectionately known), was the first daughter born to the late Rev. Floyd O. Snowden, Sr, and the late Martha Parker Snowden on February 11, 1942, in Annapolis, Maryland.
On Sunday, July 11, 2021 (after a lengthy illness), our dear Aunt Margo went to be with Lord. To mourn her transition, she leaves her husband Rev. Warren A. Parker; two brothers Elton Snowden, Sr. and Donald Snowden, Sr.; three sisters Martha Strong (Clarence), Sandra Snowden, JoAnne Snowden; four sisters-in -law Yvonne Jacobs, Marilyn Fisher, Brenda Jordan (Leonard), Marita Parker; two devoted nieces, Chira Davis and Tavalyn Louis; two faithful friends, Ms. Josephine Whipple, Mrs. Linda Ashby; and a host of nieces and nephews.
During her time with us, Margo lived a full life. She completed her education at Bates High School in Annapolis, Maryland and later went on to study at both Hampton University and Howard University.
All who knew Margo would agree that she had a great command of the English language, was extremely articulate and enjoyed talking to everyone she met. No one was a stranger to her; once she met someone, she was sure to remember their name and pronounce it correctly. She would take her time and speak with you and could talk for hours on any subject. No matter what you talked to her about, she had already read a book on it and would offer it to you as a reference.
You see, Go had literally been surrounded by books for years. She began her career in Anne Arundel County Public Library in the 1970’s and continued to work in a library until her retirement from the Anne Arundel Community College in 2016.
Although she bore no biological children, Margo reared one daughter, Stacey Lamar, and was like a second mother to many. She had a special love for children and gave unique nicknames to her loved ones. Margo was also exceptionally charitable to numerous organizations. While she worked at the local public library Go would thrill us every time she came into our neighborhoods on the Bookmobile. Aunt Go was small in stature, but she could handle that bus. Perhaps it was because it was full of books, and she loved books! In addition to her passion for reading, she studied the piano, and foreign languages to include French and German. Aunt Go loved to learn and share knowledge. She always encouraged us to keep reading, studying, and learning.
In December of 1996, Margo was united with Rev. Warren Addison Parker in matrimony and made their home in Glen Burnie, Maryland. She and “Uncle Warren” enjoyed visiting with family and friends, studying their academics and instruments, and eating good food. Of course, Aunt Go ate far more than Uncle Warren. She never seemed to get full; we have no idea where she put it all! Missing a meal was never an option, nor was rushing to finish one. A good day with Go was spent at the dining room table with good meals and great conversation.
Aunt Margo loved the Lord and often spoke of the goodness of God and the comfort of His Holy Spirit. She listened to Christian teaching on the radio and committed herself to prayer and meditation. She would often share how God was teaching her and helping her to become a better Christian. This was her lifestyle until the very end of her life.
