Marcia Ann Leventhal's Obituary
In loving memory of our friend, sister, mother, and grandmother Marcia Ann Leventhal.
Marcia passed away on October 22, 2022 in Annapolis, MD. Marcia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Adam and Jennie Ginsburg; Sisters Sylvia Mackey and Karen Wadsworth; and her grandchildren Ethan, Teddy and John Anderson; and a very special friend Major Williams. While Marcia’s passing leaves us with heavy hearts, her friendship to all of us will not be forgotten.
Most of Marcia’s career was in service of the Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) where she retired. Marcia focused on providing nonsectarian services including temporary home care for people in recovery, consultation for long-term care planning, and case management. Her service at JSSA was a reflection of who she was and what was in her heart. Marcia was a nurturer and a person known for her selflessness and putting other people’s needs ahead of her own. Marcia’s kindness extended to her love of animals as a staunch supporter of animal rights through her efforts and charitable donations to both PETA and the Maryland Humane Society. As a mother to my sister and I, she was fiercely protective and an amazing provider making the role of mother seem easy. To her friends she was known as fun-loving people person that lived life to its fullest and was always smiling.
We love you mom. May you go now and rest in peace in heaven with all our family members and friends who have preceded you. We will never forget you! You will remain in our hearts forever. God Bless you and all of us during this difficult time.
Here is a poem I believe Marcia would appreciate:
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
- Mary Elizabeth Frye
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
