Luedell S. Stewart's Obituary
Luedell “Lu” Stewart died peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living in Annapolis, MD on March 31, 2023. She was born on March 20, 1923, in Moorefield, West Virginia to Abraham and Emma Sherman. She grew up in Cresaptown, MD and attended Allegany High School. After graduation she attended Strayer’s Business School in Washington, D.C. where she then worked as a legal secretary.
She married Wesley Stewart in 1943. After the birth of their two daughters, she worked as a secretary at Colesville United Methodist Church in Silver Spring, MD until her retirement in 1977. She then helped run her husband’s real estate appraisal business until 1987.
Lu enjoyed entertaining and cooking for her family and many friends, gardening, volunteering, exercising, and traveling both nationally and internationally with her husband Wes. She was loved and admired by many for her warm and generous spirit and her positive attitude. Her 100th birthday party is something she looked forward to celebrating with many family members which joyously occurred just weeks before she passed.
