Louise Smith's Obituary
Louise Olga Carroll Smith passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 17, 2014. Sissy Carroll, or Aunt Sissy as she was affectionately known, was born February 21, 1920 to the late Newton and Olga Carroll. She received her early Christian education at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she was active in many organizations. She attended Eastport School at Third and Chester Avenue and Wiley H. Bates High School. Louise was determined to finish school and received her GED when she was in her seventies, and then attended some college classes; she was so proud of her achievements.
Louise retired from the U.S. Naval Academy as a seamstress after 25 years. Louise was a member of Peerless Rens Club and held the office of Treasurer for the Rennettes for many years. She was an avid fisher, and would hop on any boat leaving the dock. She loved being a member of Mt. Zion, playing solitaire, doing crossword puzzles, and cheering for the Baltimore Ravens.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Newton Sr. and Olga Carroll, husband – Edward Smith, brothers – Stanley Carroll Sr. and Newton Carroll, Jr. and grandsons – Lyle Roger Smith Jr. and Kyle Roger Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memory, son – Lyle Roger Smith Sr. (Lillie Mae), daughter – Brenda L. Smith, grandchildren – Todd Smith (Kathy), Cheryl Smith, Derrick Brown (Tara), Lamar Brown (Lynn), Keith Brown (Felicia), LaShawn Brown and LaChelle Brown, 21 great-grandchildren, 25 great great-grandchildren, a devoted cousin – Hazel Williams, a very special friend – Frank Brandford, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
