Louise Marie Blount's Obituary
On Tuesday, February 8, 2022, Ms. Louise Marie Blount, loving mother of two sons, passed away at age 87.
Louise was born on October 17, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Edward Lee and Louise Rawley Smith. She enjoyed her formative years growing up in the storied community of Lamott, named in honor of Lucretia Mott, in Cheltenham Township along the border of Philadelphia.
On July 28, 1956, Louise married Lucius Augustus Blount who she met while employed as an administrative support person at the Naval Air Development Center, Warminster, PA. Together, Lucius and Louise raised two sons, Gregory and Alexander. She later received her Master of Sociology degree from Temple University in Philadelphia and worked as a career social worker for various hospitals in the Philadelphia area including Rolling Hill, Chestnut Hill, and Saint Joseph’s.
Over the years, Louise enjoyed various hobbies. She practiced drawing both still artifacts as well as the human form and was particularly proud of her ability to draw the human hand, in various positions, very accurately. Louise spent countless hours enjoying rhythm and blues and smooth jazz music genres. She was known and admired for her keen mind and quick wit as well as her practical, down-to-earth perspective toward living life.
Louise was preceded in death by her father Edward, mother Louise, and husband Lucius. She is survived by her two sons Gregory (and Christie Janousek), and Alexander with wife Karima and daughters Naomi and Alisha. Louise will be placed in rest at the Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Crownsville, Maryland columbarium together with her mother Louise Rawley Smith. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the Christian Children’s Fund (CCF).
