Louellen Donnell's Obituary
Louellen Donnell, daughter of the late James H. (Buster) Donnell and Rev. Dr. Lucille F. Donnell, was born on November 22, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland and entered her eternal rest suddenly on November 26, 2020 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Louellen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away Thanksgiving morning 4 days after her 68th birthday.
Louellen was a graduate of Annapolis High School, Class of 1970. She attended Anne Arundel Community College. She worked at OIC, Crofton Medical Facility and then at North Arundel Medial Center known now as Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Louellen was known as Mommy, Ma, Ellen, or Sunshine was a beautiful and strong woman, who always thought of others before herself. She worked hard her whole life whether it was taking care of her children or doting on her grandkids and taking care of patients as a certified medical assistant at BWMC. She loved working at the hospital until she had to retire in 2008 due to medical issues, she fought long and hard and remained positive through it all. Up until she passed, she still crocheted afghans for sisters, brothers, family and friends. She loved calling her kids to make sure they were up for work or talking to her 98-year-old aunt about the soaps. She always remembered everyone’s birthday and made sure she called them.
As a child, Louellen attended Mt Olive A,M.E. Church and later became a member. She sang on various choirs and regularly attended bible study. She loved to cook, read and help others. She will be truly missed.
Although her death was sudden her illnesses were not, yet she continued to have a positive outlook and was thankful for her many blessings each day.
In addition to her parents, Louellen was preceded in death by her brothers: Aubrey, Lawrence, James W. and James R. Donnell, and sister: Mrs. Rebecca Thompson and Rev. Doreen Donnell.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters Umica Hunter-Powell, Tiffany Dance, and one son Ernest Dance Jr (Carrie); grandchildren: Shante’s Bowser (Carl), Justin Long, Tarrel (TJ) Johnson, Michael Jones, Ernest Dance III, Imani Johnson, Kayla Dance, Kameron Dance, 4 step grandchildren; great grandchildren: Dametri Bowser, Autumn Bowser, Admiral Bowser, Jeremiah Long, and Olivia Long; 3 sisters: Shirley Butler, Viola and Tremaine Donnell, all of Annapolis; 3 brothers: Raymond, Douglas and Michael Donnell, all of Annapolis, MD. 1 aunt, Mrs. Carrie Dennis of Shadyside, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
