Linward "Lenny" Marceron Jr.'s Obituary
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, coach, teacher, and friend, Linward “Lenny” Marceron Jr., 78, of Harwood, Maryland, passed away peacefully from Alzheimer’s at Post Acute Care Center in Baltimore, MD, on July 17, 2025.
Born on August 27, 1946, in Washington, D.C., Lenny was the son of the late Linward Marceron Sr. and Dorothy LaScola Marceron. He grew up alongside his beloved sisters, Janet Cook (Mick) and Virginia “Ginny” Donaldson (Russ) and attended Northwestern High School. He married Joanna Jeffery on February 1, 1969.
Above all else, Lenny was a devoted family man. Lenny and Joanna shared a beautiful marriage of 56 years. Together, they raised two sons, Linward Marceron III “Woody” (Suzanna) and Matthew Jon Marceron (Jennifer). Lenny was a proud father, father-in-law, and even prouder grandfather to Bradley, Jamison, and Melanie. He recently had the joy of becoming a great-grandfather to Macie, daughter of Bradley and his wife, Ashley. He truly loved nothing more than spending time with his family, whether it was in West Virginia when the grandkids came to visit, watching them play many different sports, or traveling on family cruises and vacations.
Lenny was self employed for most of his career running South County Fleet Services with his father for many years. He also worked for several companies throughout his life, including the Fort Meade Water Treatment Plant, Kimball Midwest, Mechanics Choice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). He had a deep love for sports and spent many years coaching softball, baseball, football, and basketball. He served as a P.E. teacher and the Athletic Director at St. Andrews United Methodist Church and School, working alongside Joanna, who taught Religion. He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his sons, horse racing, casinos and spending time with his grandchildren while living on the family compound in Harwood.
Known affectionately as “Bubba,” he had a sharp wit and a legendary sense of humor. He had a knack for making people laugh and lighting up every room he walked into. A man of deep faith, Lenny enjoyed attending church services and was incredibly proud to support Joanna in her role as a pastor at many churches including Galesville United Methodist Church prior to her retirement.
Lenny's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering support for his family. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of Lenny’s life will be held at Galesville United Methodist Church (4825 Church Lane Galesville MD 20765) on Friday, July 25th. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10am-12pm with services immediately following. There will be a reception following the service at the Annapolis Elks (2 Pythian Drive, Edgewater, MD 21037). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Galesville United Methodist Church P.O. Box 131 Galesville, MD 20765 or https://GalesvilleUMC.org
