Lillian Lena Murphy's Obituary
Lillian was born in 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to Frederick and Lillian Solowski. One of five children, Lillian went to work at age 16 to help support her family after her father passed away.
She met William T. Murphy II- when he rescued her pet duck. They married in 1949. Together they had five children. In 1958 they decided to move to Anne Arundel County and build a house. Lillian was very proud of their house and the life they created together.
After her children were in school Lillian decided to become a school bus driver. She worked as a bus driver for special needs students for Anne Arundel County Public Schools for 23 years. She retired in1992.
During her retirement Lillian spent time enjoying her hobbies and interests. She was a “Marley Miler” walking with her husband Bill and a group of friends several miles a day before the mall opened. She traveled with her husband on cruises and bus trips to visit many new places. Lillian was an avid fisherman, never turning down the opportunity to fish or crab. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and crafting. Bill and Lillian were both master gardeners, the fruits of their labors were enjoyed by the whole family. Lillian loved her family. She is survived by her children Mary D. Kennedy, William T. Murphy III, Wayne M. Murphy and Nancy M. Bourne. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Lillian is finally at peace after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She is reunited with her beloved husband and daughter Sharon L. Powell.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake.
