Laura Mae Coleman's Obituary
Laura Mae Coleman, of St. Leonard, MD, died Thursday, January 26, 2012, at University of Maryland Medical Center. She was 48.
Born May 26, 1963 in Delaware, she was raised in Rock Hall, MD, by her grandparents, the late Richard and Etta Masten Murphy. Laura enjoyed kayaking, crabbing, and scouring the Chesapeake Bay shoreline for arrowheads and sharks’ teeth. She also had a gift for gardening and painting.
Laura graduated from Kent County High School class of 1981 and, in 1985, was married to Steven D. Coleman, who was then serving in the U.S. Navy. The couple lived in Charleston, SC, and Bridgeville, DE, before moving to Calvert County, where Steve works out of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
In addition to her husband, Laura is survived by a son, Steven Tyler Coleman, and a grandson, Colby Tyler Coleman of St. Leonard, MD; two sisters, Anna Walls of Federalsburg, MD, and Marion Shahan of Kenton, DE; and two brothers, John Smith Clendaniel, Jr. of Cheswold, DE, and Robert A. Clendaniel of Marydel, MD. Her aunts Betty Burke of St. Leonard, MD; Nancy McGinnis of Chestertown, MD; and Linda Miller of Dover, DE; also survive. She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Mae Pleasanton.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 11:00 am Lasting Tributes Cremation Funeral Care, P.A. 814 Bestgate Road Annapolis, MD21401.
