LaTonya Marie Crowell's Obituary
LaTonya Marie Crowell of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022 at Casey House Hospice. She was 48 years old.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up primarily in Cromwell, Alabama. Against all odds, LaTonya graduated from The University of Alabama and Indiana University Bloomington School of Law. She was a tax attorney and a beloved professor in the United States and in China. She volunteered in her community all through her life and was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
LaTonya loved to travel. Her favorite places included Hawaii, Bali, Thailand, China, and the Poconos, but she kept Silver Spring, Maryland as her home base, returning to work, live, and meet up with friends and loved ones over her favorite Pad Thai. As much as she loved traveling, she loved Anita Baker's love
songs and discovering new food. She was an authority on Peking Duck!
She is survived by her partner Ron Robinson, her mother Mary Watson, sisters Bridget, Katrice, and Stephanie, niece Latronda and her family, and many friends who were her chosen family. She is preceded in death by her brother Michael and sister Rolanda.
La Tonya saw the good in everyone. Her wonderful laugh, generous nature, quick wit, determination, and unfailing compassion for others will be terribly missed. Though Latonya's time with us was far too short, we are grateful for the precious time we shared.
