Kirby Milburne Fletcher's Obituary
Kirby M. Fletcher, affectionately known as "Porky" to family and friends, was born on August 11, 1969, to Margie E. Jones and the late Benjamin “Benny” Fletcher at Anne Arundel General Hospital in Annapolis, Maryland. From the very beginning, he was his mother’s heartbeat, embodying the deep love and bond they shared. As the first and only child of Margie Jones and the oldest of Benjamin Fletcher's children, Porky enjoyed a unique family dynamic that shaped his caring nature.
Growing up in Lothian, Maryland, he graduated from Southern High School in 1987. His work ethic blossomed early; at just 13, he began working for his late grandfather, Dick Jones, at James L. Jones and Sons Concrete. This marked the beginning of his lifelong dedication to his craft as a concrete craftsman and construction worker. Renowned for his willingness to lend a helping hand, Porky became the go-to person whenever someone needed assistance with moving or cleaning. He approached every task with unmatched excellence, showcasing a heart full of commitment.
Family was central to Porky’s life. He cherished his loved ones, delighting in meals shared together and filling gatherings with laughter and joy. Known for his contagious, unique hoarse laughter, he could lighten the mood with even the corniest of jokes. His humble and peaceful demeanor drew people to him, and it was no exaggeration to say that everyone who met him adored him.
As the cherished first grandchild of his maternal grandparents, Dick and Nannie Jones, Porky made a lasting impression on his family. In the 1980s, he was known for his legendary high top fade, earning recognition as one of Ark Road’s Finest in Lothian, surrounded by a close-knit community of friends and family. He was the proud father of two beautiful daughters and a loving grandfather to four grandchildren.
Despite facing many struggles throughout his life, Porky's resilience shone brightly. He always maintained a positive outlook, often reassuring others with the phrase, "Everything's good." His warm hugs and acts of love left a profound impact on those around him. Porky’s noble character was evident in his compassionate nature; he never judged others and offered kindness freely.
Porky found his faith early in life, receiving salvation and being baptized at Antioch Pentecostal Church. His journey on earth came to an end on February 16, 2025, when the Lord called him home. His passing resonated like a fallen tree in the forest—quiet yet profoundly felt by all who knew him.
