I and my late husband Harry were the beneficiaries of Judith's gardening passion and Leslie's tree plantings. Living across the street at 45th and River Road NW and enjoying picnics in the backyard were joys I'll always remember. Fond memories. I got to know Judith even better from the obituary. I was in Judith's first sixth grade class in Wallingford, the class which she brought to a Weavers concert in New Haven.
She wrote me a letter in my first year of college in 1965 and here is an excerpt: "In every class, there are students who deviate from the norm. My approach, as you know, is to love them, to try to understand them, to attempt to make them realize their worth."
Yes I do know that, and she was the greatest influence on my life that a teacher could possibly be.
