Judith Ann Beard's Obituary
Judith Ann (Faust) Beard, 84, of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2025 and was surrounded by her family.
Judie was born February 28, 1941 in Charleston, WV, to the late Floda and Tracy Faust. She is survived by her spouse, Ron Beard; sister-in-law Joan Beard; children, Paula Beard and Sheryl Beard Ostrye and son-in-law Bill Ostrye; grandchildren, Leah and Kaylee Ostrye; sister, Sandra Hughes; brother, Tracy Faust; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Judie is predeceased by her sisters, Linda Eva and Fay Shabdue.
Judie grew up in Charleston, WV and graduated from South Charleston High School in 1959. She went on to graduate from business school. While working as a secretary at Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, FL she met her husband Ron who was an engineer at the time. They married in 1964, sharing 61 years together. After having two daughters, they moved from Miami, FL to Sparta, NJ in 1969 where they lived for 53 years, most of which was at their home on Lake Mohawk. Living on Lake Mohawk was a very special time and place for her. She was a homemaker and spent many hours volunteering in her daughters’ schools. Judie enjoyed playing tennis, volleyball and bowling and playing poker with her family. Judie crewed with her husband Ron at the Lake Mohawk Yacht Club on their Lightning for 12 years. She traveled extensively with her family including bareboat sailing trips with friends and family to the Bahamas, Florida Keys, British Virgin Islands and Belize. Between Ron’s commercial airline jobs, Judie and Ron owned and operated Sparta Package and Wrap which Judie ran for 2 years while Ron was overseas. In 1992 they moved to Oahu, HI while Ron flew for Japan Airlines. While in Hawaii, she loved to host visitors and discover the island through walking. Upon retirement in 1999, they returned to their cherished home on Lake Mohawk. They moved to Chester, MD on Kent Island in 2021, then to Brightview in Annapolis, MD in 2024.
Judie was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and was a selfless person who was always putting her family first. More than anything, Judie loved to laugh, make others laugh, spend time with her grandchildren, and enjoy a glass of wine.
