Joseph V. Puccia's Obituary
Joseph Vincent Puccia of Annapolis, MD, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2021 at the age of 93. Born to Joseph and Gertrude Puccia on August 16, 1928, in Watertown, MA, Joe lived a life full of accomplishments and love. Joe graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. He is also a veteran who served in the Army Corps of Engineers. Joe is predeceased by his wife, Catherine Sheild Puccia, and is survived by his four children, Mark, David, Peter, and Karen; their spouses and four grandchildren. Joe spent his career in the boating industry and retired from the Naval Sea System Command in the Department of the Navy.
An avid sailor and a naval architect Joe spent his summers in Cape Cod on Lewis Bay. He designed he Discoverer 18, the Private 15 and the Severn 20 sailboats as well as the Albin 27 cabin cruiser. Among his many accomplishments, he competed in the North American and World Albacore Sailing Championships. He will be remembered for his many talents in engineering, architecture, design and craftsmanship.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Crownsville, MD on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Joe's name (www.alz.org/donate).
