Joe's favorite dog was Lady, his beloved K-9 White German Shepard. She had become the ceramic store mascot. She had fallen ill one night and Joe and his police friend, Dave, rushed her to the Emergency vets. They kept her and transferred her to the Riverdale vets within 2 days. We went there to pick her up and the vet told us she died ! We were devastated. Joe drank pots of coffee that day and ate nothing for a few days. Lady was his heart and soul and it about killed him to lose her under such mysterious circumstances. We decided to put her in a famous Rockville pet cemetary that was perpetual. We had an actual service for her in a Chapel and she was placed in beautiful childs white casket, with white taffeta lining. He was so distraught that only myself and Daves wife could go into the Chapel, where we placed her favorite bowl and a piece of her favorite blanket and such in her casket. It was precious and tear-jerking. They then brought her out onto a large dolly and transported her across the gardens to her spot. Joe was numb, Dave was there along with my Mother and her companion, Paul, and Joe's nephew Butch. Everyone was crying. We put a concrete german shepard statue on that grave and when his other fave cat died, Miss Kitty, we also had the grave opened and her placed on top with Lady, who was her best dog friend. They were both ceramic shop pets. He never got over losing that dog and never could talk of her without tearing up. Now they are all reunited in heaven and I know Joe is thrilled to see her, Miss Kitty, Butch and Paul again !
