John Charles Schweitzer's Obituary
John Charles Schweitzer of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Queenstown, MD, died on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Regency Park Assisted Living. He was 90.
Born in Washington, DC on April 13, 1930, he was the son of Paul Brewer and Agnes Mahoney Schweitzer. He attended Bladensburg High School in Bladensburg, MD. Mr. Schweitzer enlisted into the U.S. Army for three years in 1947. From 1950 to 1953 he worked as an apprentice machinist at the Naval Gun Factory in Washington, DC. Mr. Schweitzer married Annie L. Collins of Washington, DC on April 12, 1958. In March 1953, he entered the U.S. Navy. He served in the submarine service on the East Coast of the U.S. until retiring as Senior Chief in 1971. Mr. Schweitzer worked for the Naval Besurch and Development Laboratory in Annapolis, MD before retiring in 1984.
He is survived by his sisters, Joellen Bailey of Odenton, MD and Joy Pucciarelli of Fairfax, VA. He was predeceased by his wife, Annie Lucille Schweitzer (2010); brother, James Schweitzer (2010); and sister, Jean S. Mead (2018).
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis MD 21401, from 12 pm until the start of his funeral service at 1 pm. Guests who are unable to attend may view the service live stream on Mr. Schweitzer’s Tribute Page on the funeral home website. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Crownsville Veterans’ Cemetery.
