John Stephen Nisos' Obituary
On Saturday February 22, 2020, John Stephen Nisos was called home peacefully at the age of 67. Born in Sacramento, California on September 14, 1952 to the late Lt. Colonel Michael John Nisos, USAF, and the late Elizabeth Gillespie Nisos. He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte Wilkerson Nisos; his daughter, Caitlin Elise Nisos; Charlotte’s sons, Eric Wilkerson and his wife, Leta Wilkerson, & Bryan Wilkerson and his wife, Julia Wilkerson; his sister, Elizabeth Michelle Nisos, her partner, Tracy Lloyd Carver, and her sons & his nephews, Isaiah Emmanuel Nisos and his wife, Ryland Adkins Nisos and their daughter, Ann Lyle Nisos; Joshua Oak Nisos, and Elijah Benjamin Camp and his children, Khalia and Alijah. Other surviving relatives include his cousin and Godmother, Amelia Catakis and his Aunt Mary Gillespie, along with a multitude of cousins and dear family members and friends.
He graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Architectural Design and a minor in Zoology, and is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
John was fascinated by science and is a true man of faith. He enjoyed working on cars, boating, motorcycle riding, and any and all types of building projects from car & plane models to commercial properties, starting with home building and repair projects with his father while growing up. He married Helen Case Sumerwell, a member of the Washington Ballet Company. Later, he created a business with a friend called Custom Cabinet and Design followed by work as an executive commercial property manager in a number of successful corporations throughout his life, including the Rouse Company and it’s building, Silver Spring Metro Plaza. Simultaneously to his work, he invested in his community through leading Bible studies and as President of the Home Owners’ Association in the place he lived in Kensington, Md. before moving to Annapolis.
He loved spending time with family and friends, and he is loved by many.
The family extends their gratitude to the church members, the family members and friends, and all medical staff at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital and all additional doctors and nurses for the compassionate care and kindness provided through the years.

A graveside service will follow immediately thereafter at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidson, Maryland, just off Route 50.
