John Thomas McGowans Jr.'s Obituary
John Thomas McGowans Jr., affectionately known as “Man,” was born on December 24, 1964, to John T. McGowans Sr. and Carole (Dove) McGowans at the Naval Academy Hospital in Annapolis, Maryland. John peacefully departed this life on December 11, 2025, following a brief illness at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
John was educated in the Anne Arundel County Public School system and graduated from Annapolis High School in 1983. He was raised in Cecil United Methodist Church, where he faithfully attended Sunday School and served as an acolyte.
Throughout his life, John held various jobs, including positions at Wendy’s, Burger King, Holiday Inn, Koons Ford, and Towne Park West. He had a deep love for music, and his favorite pastime was dancing, especially to disco music, bringing joy and laughter to parties and weddings wherever he went.
John was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carole McGowans; his grandparents, John and Alice McGowans and Clagett and Susie Dove.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted father, John T. McGowans Sr. (Norma); his sister, Janet Boston; his brother, Elrod McGowans; his aunts, Celeste Dove McPherson (Crawford), Lauren Dove, Patricia Whittington (Charles), and Edna McGowans; two nieces, Tynesha Graves-Simms and Yesenia Boston; two nephews, Elrod McGowans Jr. and Jayquon McGowans; and a host of loving relatives and friends who will forever remember his spirit, joy, and love of life.
