John Loree Basil's Obituary
John "Charlie" Basil, 86, passed away on Monday April 6, 2015. Charlie was born on August 11, 1928 in Annapolis, Maryland to Henrietta Leitch Basil and Loree Edward "Eenie" Basil. After graduation from Annapolis Senior High School, where he played lacrosse, Charlie joined the Marine Corps and subsequently attended the University of Maryland. Charlie spent 36 years at the State of Maryland's Unemployment Division retiring as Regional District Manager covering offices in six counties. He then went on to work at Katsef Sales, where he sold restaurant and maintenance supplies in the greater Annapolis area. A gentle soul, Charlie loved his family and friends and had a peaceful outlook on life. He was the husband to the late Sylvia Greenfield Basil. He and Sylvia married in June of 1958 and shared 53 wonderful and loving years together. It is truly poetic that he passed on the 4 year anniversary of her death. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Basil, of Annapolis and Joanne Mistove, of Potomac, Maryland. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to either the Alzheimer's Foundation (www.alz.org) or the Hospice of the Chesapeake (www.hospicechesapeake.org)
Funeral services and internment will be held on Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, 1911 Forest Dr, Annapolis. The family will be receiving friends following the service at the home of Staci & Rick Foster. Online condolences may be placed at www.lastingtributesfuneralcare.com
