Jim Steffen's Obituary
Jim Steffen, 79, of Arnold died at home Thursday following a long illness.
Jim enjoyed a long and successful athletic and business career, and leaves behind a loving family, as well as hundreds of friends and admirers.
Jim was born and raised in Orange County, California where he was an All State selection in baseball, basketball and football. He went on to star in all three sports at UCLA as well, and was an All American end and captain of the Bruins’ football team. Jim was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 1959 NFL Draft. He enjoyed a ten year career in the NFL with the Lions, Cowboys and Redskins before his retirement from the Redskins in 1968. Jim later experienced success as a local businessman, with a number of profitable endeavors to his credit.
He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Marjorie Steffen. Jim is survived by his wife Kandyce of Arnold, daughters Krista of Arizona, and Tamara of California. Nieces and nephews include Cathy and Dan Simonds, Billy and Elaine Porter, Jody Lawshe, Phil and Jo Ellen Steffen, and Paul and Dawn Steffen.
Friends and family of Jim are invited to a Memorial Gathering in Jim’s honor at McGarvey’s Saloon, 8 market space Annapolis, MD on Tuesday April 28 at 2 PM.
