I was a former student of Dr. Loukides at AACC. I was so deeply saddened today as I’d just heard of her passing. She was one of my favorite professors, she had the spirit of I won’t give up on you but YOU will work for it. I was pleasantly surprised in our interactions that she informed me that she was a Christian, we had a great chat. She was so easy to talk to.
So sorry to hear of this loss! :( Dr. Louikides helped me through a really hard personal time in the semester I got to work with her for Microbiology at AACC. She was caring, considerate and always was there to lend an ear when I was struggling. Rest in peace to a very special and influential woman. Prayers to the family at this difficult time.
It is with the most profound sorrow I say goodbye to one of the most influential people I have met in my lifetime. She was the epitome of strength and character. She supported and believed in me through out my recovery from bone cancer and we often talked and bonded over our shared struggles and triumphs of living with chronic illness and pain. I know that I am still capable of great things because she was greatness personified. She drove you to succeed with her high expectations but had the compassion and forgiveness of a saint. She enriched the lives of all who had the blessing of knowing her and through them her legacy will live on. Writing this as her student, I can only imagine the great loss her family is experiencing. My heart is broken – Jill was a vibrant and wonderful colleague. Whenever I think about the loss of a loved one, I always remember this quote from Tuesdays with Morrie. I hope it will provide some comfort to you in this difficult time. "As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on - in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here.
