Jerome D. McGowan, Sr., affectionately known as Dickie, Poppy, Pee Pop, or just Pop, departed this life on August 12, 2019, at the age of 100, with his devoted daughter and primary caregiver Myra McGowan by his side.

After his World War II service, he secured a job with the U.S. Naval Academy, where he worked his way up to the position of master plumber/pipefitter. Jerome retired in 1978 and enjoyed the retired life from that day forward. Countries he didn’t experience while in the military, he visited as a retiree, traveling to Alaska, Canada, Ireland and others, and visiting many tourist attractions throughout the U.S.
Jerome leaves to cherish daughters Justlin and Myra, sister Shirley Turner, brother Charles McGowan, two sister-in-laws Lillian McGowan and Shirley McGowan, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.
